DRIVER SPOTLIGHT: COLIN TURKINGTON

16th December 2021

The 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship saw Colin Turkington put up an impressive fight in his quest for a record fifth crown, with the 39-year-old securing more points than in two of his championship-winning years, albeit taking second in the standings.

Turkington’s BMW 330i M Sport took four victories during the campaign, and a consistent drive – which included 22 top ten finishes – saw the Northern Irishman’s efforts reward the Bavarian marque with a record sixth consecutive Manufacturers’/Constructors’ title.

Highlights for the Team BMW driver during 2021 included clinching his second Goodyear Wingfoot Award for his performance during qualifying, taking West Surrey Racing’s 100th BTCC win at Knockhill and his own 60th career victory during race three at Donington Park in his 17th year contesting the series.

Looking ahead, Turkington has another milestone in his sights, with his 500th BTCC race start just 21 rounds away...
