The 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship now heads to Knockhill this weekend (16/17 August) after a dramatic trio of races at Croft that shifted the championship balance.
A thrilling three rounds in North Yorkshire saw victories from Tom Ingram (Team VERTU), Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK), and Dan Rowbottom (NAPA Racing UK). Still, it was Ingram who walked away at the top of the standings for the first time this season, now leading Sutton by 10 points as the title fight heads north to Scotland.
Ingram kicked off the weekend with a dominant win in Race 1, leading home local heroes Dan Cammish (NAPA Racing UK) and Senna Proctor (Team VERTU) on the rostrum. Sutton responded with a barnstorming recovery in Race 3 to take the win, while Rowbottom’s Race 2 triumph split the title-topping duo's successes.
The fight extends beyond the top two, but Rowbottom and Cammish, in third and fourth, both saw dents to their championship charges after a Race 3 multi-car collision saw one point scored between the pair of them.
In the Independents’ category, Mikey Doble (Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing) continues to lead the standings by a slender eight points to Chris Smiley (Restart Racing), but there has since been a well-publicised upheaval for the former and his team following the devastating fire that destroyed PMR’s facility, including both of its Vauxhall Astras.
A huge reaction of unwavering support has since followed, and incredibly the squad will be on the grid this weekend with two Cupras – see separate story here.
Meanwhile, Daryl DeLeon capped a memorable weekend with a podium finish in Race 2, the second of his BTCC career, maintaining his lead in the Jack Sears Trophy.
The Knockhill Test
The championship enters a new chapter at Scotland’s only race weekend, where home heroes Gordon Shedden (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA), Aiden Moffat (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR), and Dexter Patterson (ROKiT Racing with Un-Limited Motorsport) will be on a mission to shine in front of their local fans.
Knockhill promises high-octane action. This short, undulating circuit in the Scottish hills is renowned for close-quarters racing, tight corners, and unrelenting thrills — making it one of the most fan-friendly tracks on the calendar.
Local expectancies are high. Shedden, familiar with Knockhill’s quirks, will be aiming to tap into his experience. Moffat, buoyed by his Croft momentum, fighting at the front of the field, seeks another strong result. Patterson will also be looking to continue his impressive streak after topping the Independent’s table across the weekend’s racing at Croft to be points-scoring once again in front of his home crowd.
TV, Timetables and Tickets
Rounds 19, 20 and 21 of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship will headline the action at Knockhill this weekend (16/17 August), but there’s a host of support races and entertainment also on offer.
The Wera Tools F4 British Championship, the VERTU MINI CHALLENGE and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain will be on-track, all renowned for the tight, intense battles that the Dunfermline-based circuit is all too well known for.
