Turkington tops the bill at Autosport International

4th December 2014

Newly-crowned Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champion Colin Turkington is the latest addition to the list of stars heading to Europe’s biggest motorsport show, Autosport International in January.

The Northern Irishman won Britain’s most prestigious championship in 2009 with West Surrey Racing but spent three seasons on the sidelines before returning to the BMW team and winning races in 2013. Claiming eight victories during the highly competitive 2014 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, which featured 11 individual winners, Turkington eventually secured his second title during a tense finale at Brands Hatch in October.

He’ll look back on his title triumph during the 25th anniversary edition of Autosport International at Birmingham’s NEC on 8-11 January*, alongside former BTCC champions Matt Neal, Andrew Jordan and Gordon Shedden.

The quartet will be joined by 13-time Grand Prix winner David Coulthard and new FIA World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg, with more guests to be announced in the coming weeks.

“Winning the British Touring Car Championship for a second time was the result of a lot of hard work by the entire West Surrey Racing team; that it all came together was incredibly satisfying,” Turkington said.

“We received great support from passionate BTCC fans all year, but the reception to winning the title has been amazing. It will be great to see everyone and reflect at Autosport International in January, starting what will hopefully be another successful year.”

A popular Autosport International feature, the dedicated Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship display returns again in January, set to host 2015 programme launches, a fleet of cars, driver interviews and autograph sessions.

“The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship is getting stronger and stronger each season, and a key part of Autosport International. To have Colin at the show as the new champion is great news; we look forward to welcoming him and the passionate touring car fans in January,” said Ian France, Autosport International Show Director.

The BTCC display will be located in Hall 6, near the returning F1 Racing grid, while other collections will span every level of motorsport. Also at the NEC, the latest supercars will star in the Performance Car Show in association with Autocar and PistonHeads.com, and adrenaline-packed shows will be held in the Live Action Arena.

Tickets to Autosport International are available from £32 for adults, with children’s tickets priced from £21 and children under five years admitted for free. For tickets, visit www.autosportinternational.com.
