Highs and lows for Halfords Racing with Cataclean at Knockhill

Knockhill provided the thrills and spills that we’ve come to love in the BTCC, but the drama brought about a number of highs and lows for Halfords Racing with Cataclean.

The Team Dynamics-run Hondas were right on the pace during practice but could only manage mid-pack qualifying results come Saturday afternoon, which would make things difficult for the multiple championship winning squad come race day.

A couple of points scoring finishes for Dan Rowbottom failed to represent the speed that he had shown earlier in the weekend, whilst Gordon Shedden secured a trio of top seven finishes at his home circuit.

Both drivers gave their thoughts following the event in Scotland…

Gordon Shedden said: “Usually I'd be happy with those results, but race 3 was compromised for me. I felt I had the pace in the car to move forward, but that (Tom) Ingram incident caused me to run into another car and the ensuing damage then prevented me from really pushing on! But we have shown the car is strong and we have to just keep pushing on now until the end of the season.”

Dan Rowbottom commented: “If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck! The car felt good, and we were confident we would have the race pace, but unfortunately it was not to be and once you are at the back of the grid here it is really difficult to overtake. I gave it my all and grasped a handful of points. I can't wait to get out at Snetteron now and see if I can change this run of back luck!”
