DRIVER SPOTLIGHT: ASH SUTTON

17th December 2021

The 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship saw Ash Sutton become the youngest-ever three-time titleholder in Britain's premier motorsport series, with the 27-year-old leading the standings for the majority of the campaign.

Sutton kicked off his sixth year in the championship with pole position at Thruxton’s season opener, bagging the first of his five victories during 2021 in the final race of the event.

The Hertfordshire racer would visit the rostrum on four further occasions and, with 27 top ten finishes during the 30-round campaign, Sutton’s consistent and measured approach to the title battle proved more than warranted when he attained an unassailable points lead with one race left.

The triple champion went on to take the final victory of the year with a drive he described as ‘the best way to send off the campaign’ as he blasted from fourth on the grid to take the flag in first place, securing his 50th career podium in the process.
