Three-time BTCC champ Gordon Shedden has shown the potential of the Halfords Racing with Cataclean Honda Civic Type Rs by setting the fastest time in FP2, following on from team-mate Dan Rowbottom's pace-setting effort in the opening session.
While the 42-year-old graced top spot early on in the session, a flying lap in the final ten minutes saw him become the fastest driver on track, following on from his impressive weekend at Donington Park last time out.
Ginsters EXCELR8 with TradePriceCars.com’s Chris Smiley improved on his FP1 time to finish second fastest, while Aiden Moffat’s Laser Tools Racing Infiniti Q50 was the highest-placed rear-wheel drive machinery in third.
Senna Proctor (BTC Racing) and the Adrian Flux with Power Maxed Racing pair of Dan Lloyd and Jason Plato took fourth, fifth and sixth respectively, while Tom Chilton’s Car Gods with Ciceley Motorsport BMW occupied seventh on the timesheets.
Having topped the morning’s Free Practice session, Rowbottom improved on his FP1 benchmark but would find himself eighth overall in the highly competitive session, which saw the top 14 drivers separated by less than half a second.
Laser Tools Racing man Ash Sutton’s ninth-place finish marks the first of the championship contenders in the times, while rival Jake Hill (MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square) completed the top ten.
