Motorbase Performance has confirmed that it will be consolidating its Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship programme in 2014, fielding three Mountune powered Ford Focus ST NGTC’s for the season.
Team Boss David Bartrum confirmed that all three of the squad’s allocated TOCA BTCC licences (TBL) would be used by the Wrotham-based squad following the news that AMD tuning has purchased one of the team’s in house built and designed Focus ST NGTC’s; and that work on a fourth model had already commenced.
“We’re delighted to have AMD on board as a satellite team for 2014 and we will support them in any way we can” commented Bartrum. “Shaun [Hollamby] has done a great job in securing Dave Newsham for the season, he's good fit and I think he'll do a great job for the team.”
“We’ve been given three TBL’s from TOCA and we plan to run three Motorbase built NGTC cars” he continued. “The new car is currently in build and we are in the process of driver discussions for next season.”
The news signals the start of another new era for David Bartrum’s illustrious outfit. Having made the step up to becoming a constructor team in 2012, the AMD satellite expansion marks Motorbase’s first sale of an in-house built car to another team and the squad's Wrotham workshops have been busy with the build of the new NGTC already well underway.
"We're recruiting and strengthening our team behind the scenes," Bartrum added. "2014 is going to be the biggest year yet for Motorbase, with expanded programmes for the Touring Cars and GT’s and we’re going to be going all out for the Championship.”
“This year was tough, but that’s behind us now. We’ve turned a corner with the Focus, we know where we are with it and we’re confident that we’ll be back as one of the teams to watch next season.”
