Series Organiser – TOCA – announced at the start of the season that Snetterton would host a one-off Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship qualifying format to add even further entertainment to what is already one of the most exciting series’ on the planet. 

The Snetterton 300 race weekend was due to be the sixth of ten in the original calendar, but delays to proceedings due to COVID-19 saw the event moved to the penultimate spot in the rescheduled nine-event season – meaning the ‘Snetterton Top Ten Showdown’ may carry huge significance at a crucial time in the campaign. 

Action will commence at 1040 on Saturday with competitors getting just one extended 50-minute Free Practice session at Snetterton.  

Then the all-important qualifying session kicks off at 1415 with every second being streamed live and exclusively via www.itv.com/btcc. 

Replacing the usual 30-minute session, drivers will have a marginally reduced window of 25 minutes to record their lap times. The fastest ten competitors will then progress to a ten-minute pole position session to determine the top ten places on the grid. 

Lap times will be reset ahead of the showdown… all ten cars can be on-track together and there is no limit on the number of laps completed during the ten-minutes. The final order during the ‘Top Ten Showdown’ will determine places one to ten on the grid for Sunday’s opener. 

Following this undoubted extra twist, you can expect the usual thrills and spills come Sunday with another three vital races taking place at 1037, 1307 and 1554. 

Although the BTCC unfortunately continues to race behind closed doors during this unprecedented year, the ITV Television Network will have fans covered throughout the weekend.
