The nation’s favourite pasty-maker – Ginsters – is gearing up for its second season in the UK’s premier motor racing series, as it backs Tom Ingram’s title challenge in the Speedworks Motorsport-run Toyota Corolla
The BTCC will belatedly roar into action at Donington Park at the beginning of August, kick-starting a frenetic schedule of nine race weekends over an abbreviated three-and-a-half month period
Ingram will head into the forthcoming campaign under the ‘Toyota Gazoo Racing UK with Ginsters’ banner, as he chases more race wins and podium finishes to add to the four victories he secured in 2019, taking his total BTCC tally to 13.
Preparations have gone well, with the 26-year-old setting the pace at the official pre-season test at Silverstone and backing that up with the third-quickest time in the high-calibre, 28-strong field during the recent Goodyear tyre test at Snetterton.
Whilst sad not to be able to accompany the Bucks-born ace and Speedworks trackside for the time being – having given away 200,000 samples at events last year – Ginsters will be enthusiastically supporting both driver and team from its home in Cornwall when the starting lights finally go out at Donington Park.
“What an incredible year 2019 was – we couldn’t have been prouder to back Speedworks and Tom Ingram’s amazing talent in our inaugural British Touring Car Championship season,” said Kieran Hemsworth, Managing Director, Ginsters of Cornwall. “It was a natural and exciting partnership for us built on family values, a proud heritage and a mutual passion to be the best.
“We’re excited to see the Ginsters livery adorning Tom’s race-winning Corolla out on the circuit again this year, and we’ll be supporting him every step of the way as he guns for glory."
Ingram is also in buoyant mood as he believes the combinations of Speedwork, Toyota and Ginsters provides the perfect platform for success.
“We achieved some amazing things in 2019 with what was a brand-new car in the Corolla, having to completely design and build it quite literally from the ground up and then develop it over the course of the campaign,” noted Ingram.
“By the end of the season, it was pretty much a match for anything else out there, which is testament to the fantastic job done by everybody inside the team.
“Ginsters wholeheartedly embraced the BTCC and all of its myriad benefits last year. They are exactly the kind of partner you want to have on-board.”
