Handy Motorsport rebrands as HMS Racing

26th October 2017

Popular race-winning Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship team Handy Motorsport has officially rebranded as ‘HMS Racing’ ahead of the squad’s maiden campaign with an Alfa Romeo.

After its most competitive season yet in touring cars, capped with a sensational history-making win for driver Rob Austin during the final round of 2017 at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit just under four weeks ago, the Swindon team is rapidly pressing on with preparations for next year.

HMS Racing Ltd was actually formed back in 2011, when Handy Motorsport competed in the Legends Cars National Championship, but the team continued to trade under its more widely known brand until now.

With the switch from the team’s now race-winning Toyota Avensis to a newly constructed Alfa Romeo Giulietta for next year, the current off-season marks the perfect time for the business to rebrand as it sets out on the next chapter of its fantastic story.

“Next season marks a big change for the team with the introduction of the Alfa Romeo so it really is the ideal time to make the rebrand to HMS Racing,” said team principal Simon Belcher. “HMS actually stands for Handy Motor Sport and when we founded the limited company in 2011 we shortened our name. Now, the time is right to move away from Handy Motorsport and use HMS Racing as our brand going forward.

“We’re all still coming down off the win at Brands to be honest, it was an amazing way to end our association with the Toyota, but everyone is already working hard on the build of the Giulietta and the preparations for 2018. This is the most important time in the history of our team, we’re determined HMS Racing will become consistent BTCC front-runners next season.”

HMS Racing will officially unveil its spectacular, brand new, Alfa Romeo Giulietta BTCC car at the annual Autosport International Show at Birmingham NEC in January.
