Andrew Jordan claims race two victory

18th September 2016

Motorbase Performance driver Andrew Jordan kept his championship chances alive with a victory in race two at Silverstone, after fending off the attentions from Adam Morgan and Tom Ingram.

The 2013 champion started on the front row and hounded Ingram’s Toyota Avensis initially, before Jordan stormed down the inside going into the Becketts hairpin on lap seven.

Morgan's WIX Racing Mercedes nipped into second as Ingram's pace faded on the soft Dunlop SportMaxx soft tyre, but he wasn't able to trouble Jordan's Pirtek-backed Ford for the win.

"It was hard work," said Jordan. "I think I’ve done myself a bit of an injury celebrating! We needed that. I’ve read in places that I’ve lost my mojo, well I’ll just say ‘do one’, I haven’t at all. After the safety car I was just trying to go as fast as I could to get a gap. I wasn’t worried about the tyres.

"I was controlling them well. I’ve perfected a technique to look after them from back in 2013. I could see Adam (Morgan) was using his fronts a bit harder. We’re back in the number one spot where we should be."

Morgan completed a comfortable second place finish, ahead of an equally delighted Ingram.

"It’s amazing at this point in the championship to get a result like that," enthused Morgan. "We’re looking to climb our way up the table with a good points haul here.

"Hats off to Andy though, on the soft tyres – I just couldn’t keep up. I must thank all the guys in yellow and black though for their hard work to get us back into the mix. I’m well happy with it though."

"I’m more than happy with that – I’m really pleased," replied Ingram. "With the soft tyre and a lot of weight I can’t have any complaints. Andy pulled off a stonking move. Once Adam went through too I knew they’d be gone so I concentrated on holding P3. I had Jake Hill too watch then the Subarus. The places that they put us under pressure were down the straight down in towards Brooklands actually."

The Subaru Levorg GTs of Colin Turkington and Jason Plato shadowed Ingram's Toyota over the line, with Mat Jackson bringing home his newly liveried Ford Focus in sixth place, having scythed his way through from 17th on the grid.

Rob Collard was on the softer tyres and snatched seventh place in the WSR BMW 125i M Sport, but he was pressured home by Gordon Shedden in the factory Honda Civic Type-R. Shedden's epic drive was further rewarded with reverse grid pole for the final contest.

Aiden Moffat and Hunter Abbott rounded out the top ten.
