JST leader DeLeon sets practice pace at Brands Hatch

4th October 2025

WSR's Daryl DeLeon has continued his fine form by topping BTCC Free Practice 2 around the legendary 2.43-mile Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

The young star claimed a maiden BTCC victory around the Indy configuration earlier in the year and the BMW man is embroiled in a fight for the Jack Sears Trophy and a top ten finish in the overall standings as we head into the finale weekend.

The #2 BMW was second fastest in FP1 this morning before going one better in the final practice session, as his 1:29.271s lap time proved to be the fastest of the day so far.

Josh Cook (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA), Charles Rainford (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR) and Adam Morgan (Team VERTU) made it three different manufacturers in the top four positions, as the earlier pace-setting Fords finished further down the order.

Team VERTU's Senna Proctor was fifth ahead of NAPA Racing UK's Dan Rowbottom and Team VERTU's Tom Ingram, with the guessing game ahead of qualifying reaching fever pitch.

Restart Racing's Chris Smiley – gunning for the Independent Drivers' title this weekend – was eighth in the overall timesheets, whilst Aiden Moffat (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR) and Tom Chilton (Team VERTU) rounded out the top ten.

The top 14 drivers were separated by a little over half a second, whilst 16 cars were blanketed by less than a second.

The all-important qualifying session takes place at 15:15, and support series races will be streamed LIVE via the ITV YouTube from 1pm today, with the four-hour broadcast taking in Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain, Wera Tools F4 British Championship and The VERTU MINI CHALLENGE races, plus BTCC and Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain qualifying.
