Rowbottom roars to maiden Croft triumph

3rd August 2025

Daniel Rowbottom took his third triumph of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season with a breakthrough victory at Croft in the second bout of the day.

The NAPA Racing UK man made his way forward from fourth on the grid, as he picked off the leading three cars one-by-one in the early running.

With the race one rostrum runners forced to take the Goodyear hard tyre for race two, Rowbottom made light work of Team VERTU's Senna Proctor and team-mate Dan Cammish in the sister Ford Focus.

Leader Tom Ingram didn't put up too much of a fight as he let Rowbottom and Team VERTU team-mate Tom Chilton through into first and second respectively. Although Chilton looked feisty for a few laps after that, Rowbottom was gradually able to cruise clear for victory.

Behind the lead duo was the popular Daryl DeLeon, who celebrated his 20th birthday weekend with a fantastic podium, which followed his top six finish in the opener.

Young gun DeLeon took a maiden BTCC victory in his WSR BMW 330i M Sport at Brands Hatch earlier in the season and Croft has so far represented his most competitive weekend since then.

Team VERTU's Adam Morgan quietly went about his business to claim fourth, whilst drive of the contest went to NAPA Racing UK's Ash Sutton in fifth.

Sutton – starting from the rear of the field following his puncture in the earlier race – had made his way up to 12th after just a few laps, and he continued hustling until the chequered flag as he grabbed further positions on the run to a top five finish.

Charles Rainford (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR) and Gordon Shedden (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) were sixth and seventh, whilst Ingram eventually had to settle for eighth.

Aiden Moffat took ninth, and with it pole position for the reverse grid race later today, with Cammish completing the top ten classification.

The final race of the day is scheduled to take place at 1710 with all the action currently being beamed LIVE on ITV4.

Fans around the world can also get their BTCC fix with every race being broadcast LIVE – see the BTCC TV page for the listings in your region.
