NAPA Racing UK's Dan Cammish led from start to finish to win Round 7 of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton.
The #27 Ford Focus withstood steady pressure from behind throughout as the gap fluctuated back to Tom Ingram (Team VERTU) and Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK).
The fight for second was a fantastic game of cat and mouse between longtime title protagonists Ingram and Sutton, which eventually built towards a climax in the final two laps. Sutton's Ford Focus was up alongside the #80 Hyundai on a couple of occasions and there was minor contact as the duo expertly battled for position.
Ingram held firm as the fast-starting Sutton completed the podium positions.
Dan Rowbottom had to fightback after a sluggish start as the NAPA Racing UK man eventually made it through to fourth, his move around the outside of Team VERTU's Adam Morgan on the run to Riches being a particular highlight.
Morgan was relegated down to sixth late on by the charging Restart Racing Hyundai of Daniel Lloyd, with Team VERTU's Tom Chilton and Restart Racing's Chris Smiley next in the order.
The fledgling squad of Restart Racing were left disappointed not to make the 'Quick Six' during qualifying yesterday and such is its performance and belief that both drivers were able to make solid progress in the opening race.
Eyebrows were raised when fourth placed starter Mikey Doble chose to run the hard Goodyear compound for Race 1, but it could yet prove a master stroke by the Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing outfit.
The Vauxhall man had dropped to ninth by the finish but with soft tyres and plenty of boost to come it will be interesting to see how the reigning Jack Sears Trophy champion fares for the remainder of the day.
WSR's Daryl DeLeon made decent progress after a difficult qualifying session yesterday as the recent Brands Hatch race winner rounded out the top ten.
There were a number of incidents dotted throughout the contest with a couple of particular note. The Toyota of Aron Taylor-Smith (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) collided with reigning champion Jake Hill (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport) on the opening lap, sending the latter out of contention, whilst Max Hall (ROKiT Racing with Un-Limited Motorsport) fired off three-time champion Gordon Shedden (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) at the final chicane.
