In the Spotlight: NAPA Racing UK

23rd December 2024

The Alliance Racing-run NAPA Racing UK enjoyed both race winners in the overall and Jack Sears Trophy (JST) category as the Ford Focus ST-driven squad left 2024 as Teams’ Champions for the third consecutive season.

An impressive start to the season saw the Northampton-based team boast a run of eight podiums in a row. Of which, four-time BTCC Champion Ash Sutton took the first seven of those as the #1 then sat at the top of the Drivers’ Standings.

A vastly different approach was taken for the all-conquering team from 2023 as it took a quarter of its victories it did in the campaign prior. Standing on the top step 16 times one year ago, the triple champions of that year only managed four victories this past season despite still taking the Teams’ crown.

The other driver to take a victory alongside Sutton was the #27 of Dan Cammish. Taking his one and only victory at Donington Park GP, the triumph put the Yorkshireman in position to still be in title contention arriving at the final event.

That feat left NAPA Racing UK as the only team with two competitors in contention for the UK’s most coveted prize in British motorsport come the final weekend. Allowing for both drivers’ successes to contribute to the Northampton squad winning the Teams’ Championship in every year they have competed.

It was not all down to the two previously mentioned drivers as Dan Rowbottom would also stand on the rostrum twice in 2024, making the Alliance Racing-run team one of two teams to have three drivers upon the podium this past campaign.

Not only were there triumphs in the overall category but also in the JST. Sam Osborne enjoyed a second half of the season to remember, dramatically slicing the gap to eventual champion Mikey Doble. The #77 entered the summer break 97 points behind in third position, before an impressive run of results saw the gap close to 53 on his way to taking the runners-up laurels.
