Daryl DeLeon topped the opening Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship free practice session at Silverstone as an incredible 13 drivers dipped under Dan Cammish's existing qualifying lap record.
WSR's DeLeon has starred during his sophomore season in the BTCC, having already scored an outright victory at Brands Hatch earlier in the year, and now the 20-year-old is targeting the Jack Sears Trophy crown with six races of the season remaining.
DeLeon's late lap in the #2 BMW 330i M Sport pipped NAPA Racing UK's Dan Cammish by just 0.036s, as the Anglo-Filipino produced the fastest ever BTCC lap around the 1.64-mile National layout.
Team VERTU's Adam Morgan was third followed by the LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR duo of Aiden Moffat and Charles Rainford, with the latter looking to close down DeLeon's lead in the JST standings during this penultimate race weekend.
Restart Racing's Daniel Lloyd was sandwiched between Team VERTU's Senna Proctor and Tom Chilton on the timesheets, whilst the NAPA Racing UK pair Dan Rowbottom and Ash Sutton completed the top ten.
Josh Cook, Gordon Shedden (both TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) and reigning champion Jake Hill (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport) completed the list of 13 drivers that clocked a time faster than Cammish's effort from 2020, whilst the top 17 cars in FP1 were separated by just 0.784s.
FP2 commences at 1205, whilst Qualifying for Round 25 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship takes place at 1530 and will be streamed LIVE via the ITV Sport YouTube channel.
