Tom Ingram transitioned from a successful karting career to car racing in 2009, entering the Ginetta Junior Championship. In 2010, his consistent performance earned him the Ginetta Junior crown. He continued his success by winning the Ginetta G50 Cup in 2011 and challenged for the Ginetta GT Supercup title in 2012, which he won in 2013 with 22 podiums, including 11 victories.

Ingram debuted in the BTCC in 2014 with Speedworks Motorsport's Toyota Avensis, finishing as the top rookie. He stayed with Speedworks in 2015, earning his first BTCC podium at Rockingham and another at Brands Hatch. In 2016, Ingram claimed his first BTCC win in the season opener and added another victory at Silverstone, finishing tenth overall.

The 2017 season saw Ingram win four races, including at Brands Hatch and Silverstone, finishing third in the overall standings and topping the Independents' championship for both driver and team. In 2018, he narrowly missed out on the BTCC Drivers' title, finishing second, but again won the Independents' trophy.

In 2019, Speedworks became Team Toyota GB with Ginsters, and Ingram, driving a new Corolla, secured four wins, including a double victory at Silverstone. In 2020, he continued to perform well, driving the Corolla to several victories and finishing fourth in the standings.

In 2021, Ingram moved to Ginsters EXCELR8 with TradePriceCars.com, piloting a Hyundai i30N. He claimed his first BTCC Drivers' Championship in 2022, winning six races and securing the title in the final event of the year.

In 2023, Ingram returned with the EXCELR8 Hyundai i30N but lost his crown. He remains with the team, now named Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS, for 2024, aiming to reclaim the title from Ash Sutton.
